Honestly, I think what it will take for the people to gain back sovereignty is to unplug altogether from tech and return to a simpler, hunter/gatherer lifestyle. Decentralize, deglobalize, de-agriculturalize (the system that cultivated slavery), and return to small tribes acting in an egalitarian, self-sufficient manner with each other and Mother Nature who is the TRUE oligarch. It's unrealistic a notion, I know, but a man can dream.
