Welcome to the first installment of what should be an ongoing series showcasing promising and captivating heavy metal and rock upcoming releases!

Whenever I come across music that catches my ear, regardless of its genre, my first inclination is to share my pleasurable experience with others and pass it along.

With that being said, check out these gems!

Hive, Spiritual Poverty
Release date: 8/19/22
Translation Loss Records

Album Cover by Morgan Carpenter

Hive is a 4-piece powerhouse from Minnesota that produces aggressive darkened hardcore with Swedish death metal undertones. While listening to their new material I couldn’t resist the urge to form a scowl due to the relentless onslaught of galvanizing riffs and enraged vocals.

Sample Spiritual Poverty here.

Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement, Constructing The Cataclysm
Release date: 8/5/22
Comatose Music

Album Cover by Andreas Christanetoff of Armaada Art

If it’s being released by Comatose Music — my former band Dehumanized’s record label — you know it’s disgustingly brutal stuff, and that’s exactly what Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement is giving us. Here we have an ancient samurai-themed death metal record that’s chock-full of menacing tremolo and triplet riffs as well as inhuman drumming. There’s a war raging on this album, and here’s a peek into its savagery:

Hilning, Råtijinn
Release date: 6/17/22
Suicide Records
