We had it right for millennia as hunter/gatherers. We were more community driven, symbiotic with nature, living in the moment, and no one could just sit back and exploit others' efforts. Once agriculture's conveniences gave way to the industrialization and commodification of food, it had already ushered in hierarchies, class systems, slavery, and money as a middleman to navigate in order to have necessities met.
